Out of the Mouths of Babes I had completed my annual visit as Santa at the Christmas Carousel in Raleigh and had changed into my casual Santa clothes to have dinner at a local steak house with my family and friends. It had been a long day of delightful visits with children visiting the show, after which we had to dismantle our exhibit booth and load it into our “U-Haul Sleigh” and frankly I was exhausted and was looking forward to enjoying a relaxing meal.Across from our table was a family of five who seemed to be delighted that “Santa Claus was in the building!” Don’t take me wrong, I love being recognized as Santa no matter where I go, but I also want to ...

Out of the Mouths of Babes

Many friends and family members know that for a number of years I have been hard of hearing. The hearing loss was gradual leading to the need of a hearing aid in my left ear first and then when I almost totally lost my hearing in my right ear, I got an aid for it too. However, even with these devices I had trouble hearing in most situations, especially when I was visiting with children. Of course it is important for me to understand what children are saying to me as Santa Claus, and there have been many embarrassing moments and some humorous when I misunderstood what they wanted me to bring them for "Christ"mas.Recently I have been consulting with a physician about having a cochlear implant ...

Out of the Mouths of Babes

For over thirty years I have had the pleasure of meeting with one of my best friends for a time of prayer at his medical office each Thursday morning at 6:00 a.m. During each of the over 1500 meetings we have had, my friend takes a can of Maxwell House Coffee off the shelf and brews us a fresh cup of coffee. Over this cup of coffee we have shared the joys and sorrows of living life, always leaving with a time of shared prayers for each other and our families.Over the entire time of our friendship, my friend has embraced and encouraged my role as Santa Claus, offering his weekly encouragement for my ministry. He is also aware of the unique relationship I have developed with my photographer ...

Out of the Mouths of Babes

Yes it's still ninety degrees outside and I can't wait for cooler weather! For one thing my Santa suit is not made for summer! It was just two years ago when my artist friend Larry Hersberger called me and said, "It's snowing outside, let's build a snowman!" By the time I got to his studio, I was greeted by "The Snow Family!" We spent the whole day creating wonderful photos of Santa visiting with his new friends. With his magic, Larry was able to actually bring the family "alive" as you can see in this new puzzle. This is just one of the new puzzles available this year. You can find it along with others on my website at www.cliffkringle.com.

Out of the Mouths of Babes

Have you ever wondered what Santa likes to do when he's not busy making toys?  Artist Kyle Dixon from the coast of North Carolina thinks that Santa is a decoy maker.  Kyle's work has been featured at the Core Sound Decoy Festival in Harker's Island, NC, which is held every December.  I was pleased that Kyle asked if I would be his model for this year's festival painting.  Now, I have prints available for sale on my website, but hurry, there will only be 150 signed-and-numbered prints available in the edition.  The image size of the reproduction is 8 1/2" x 13" with ample 2" borders and is printed on heavy art cover stock.  The price for the reproduction is ...
